Gospel Ready
It is the way of the Holy Spirit to help us in our quest to learn and has enlightened my understanding on many subjects. I've also been given a greater appreciation for the apostles and their dedication to ensure that the Christian faith was built upon a sure foundation. Therefore, I'm apprehensive about the many new teachings that are being published and causing division or uncertainty upon God's people today. The nonsense that God didn't predict the tragedy of Adam and Eve's disgrace and then again, that He doesn't know the outcome or certainty of our future. Or again, the false prophets of "soaking prayer" that's nowhere in the Bible and would have us open our minds to the occult. So once again, I am thankful to Jesus, the apostles and early church who faithfully labored together in the Holy Spirit to ensure that the Bible was complete and ready for you and me.
I am thankful that my earlier years were spent in reading the Bible which gave me a solid understanding of the scripture. And also, an ability to see in the Holy Spirit when the Bible was misquoted or amplified out of context. Once again, so thankful to the Holy Spirit for placing this desire upon my heart at an early age. Then in the 70's - Jesus led me to attend Faith Temple (Winnipeg, Canada) and was blessed by the shared knowledge of pastor* Ingrid Bergner. This was a prophetess who spent hours at the mercy seat of Jesus and was rewarded with an insight about "Ezekiel's Vision" of the Living Creatures. I'd like to give honorable mention to pastor Ralph Rutledge from Queensway Cathedral (Toronto, Canada). This is a man of God who shared yesterday what we're seeing in the daily news today.
With the selection of a few select books over the years, it wasn't until 2001 that I decided to glean the works of key teachers to quicken my Bible study. The insights that were shared by these authors through their works of faith have, for the most part, been a blessing. I had kept my focus on the books of the Bible and select topics that are based in scripture for the purpose of expanding my knowledge from Genesis to Revelation. I now have a collection of several hundred books which is my investment in the gospel of great lasting value. The only fiction book was "This Present Darkness" by Frank E. Peretti.
The disadvantage of reading so many books and listening to the various interpretations on some subjects became apparent when asked to share these Bible highlights. It seems that I'd become overloaded with thought and too aware of the many teachings and therefore, not ready to share a certain view or clear understanding. The other critique that I quickly learnt to avoid were the many opinions about living the church life that seemed more to do with lifestyle while downplaying the roll of the Holy Spirit. It has been a good learning experience and once again, am reading the Bible which adds enlightenment, knowledge and understanding into my soul every day. So, if your looking for a glad and cheerful heart, this is the way.
